Well, it’s almost the end of summer for the boys, they head back to school on Aug. 11th! With only a month and a half of a summer break, we managed to squeeze in as many trips to El Dorado Park as we could. A week and a half ago, we saw the American Civil War Reenactment there! What a great experience that was! I took TONS of photos, but will share a few of my favorite shots here. I’ll provide a link to my political blogging page for those of you who want to see all the photos I took. The boys recently took an interest in FISHING, so we have been back to El Dorado (Area III) a few times to take a shot at that sport. Let’s just say, Aaron caught one fish in 10 hours worth of fishing. Jonny caught (with a net) a bunch of baby fish, but nothing on his line. Mom and Dad were not successful at catching any fish either, BUT it was fun trying.
In addition to El Dorado Park, the boys and I recently went hiking up in Santiago Oaks Regional Park. What a beautiful and serene place to hike! We saw lots of lizards, bull frogs, butterflies galore, turtles, birds, poison oak and baby fish there! Thank goodness we didn’t see any of the rattlesnakes or mountain lions that all the signs were warning us about. If you are wanting to get out and do some hiking, nature photography, or just sit on a bench and enjoy the scenery, at a park that has VERY FEW PEOPLE I recommend checking this park out! Down the street, and around the corner is Irvine Regional Park which is very nice, but can be really crowded. I really liked the fact that the boys and I were literally the only people there this past Thursday!
So, today is another day. We are going to try our hand at ocean fishing this evening, with the boys on the pier in Seal Beach. Wish us luck! I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but most likely a lizard, a butterfly, or maybe even a FISH! 🙂
