Monday Morning Nature Walk

The June Gloom cleared early this morning, so I was up bright and early and felt like going on a nature walk with my camera.  The morning light was so nice with a few puffy clouds, which seemed to give all the animals an energy boost (as well as myself).  The squirrels were chasing each other up and down the trees, and one paid me a brief visit. The Western Bluebirds were busy feeding their young, and the Grackles were noisily following my every move.  My husband and son were fishing while I was exploring. While I caught some nice moments, they didn’t catch a single fish, not even a nibble to be had.

Here are some of my favorite shots.

Enjoy. 🙂

Canadian Goslings & Other Things

These photos and videos were taken earlier today at El Dorado Park. ❤

Canadian Geese come to Southern Ca. every year for their winter/spring destination and obviously breeding grounds away from the harsh cold of Canada. These  precious Goslings were very well protected by Mom & Dad.  They are so adorable how they clumsily follow their parents around, and copy everything they see Mom and Dad do! I just love how fluffy & puffy their downy feathers are.  I couldn’t get any closer as there was another Goose of some kind that was REALLY protective of the goslings.  This  confused me at first because I couldn’t figure out who the mom was, but the babies stayed next to the Canadian Geese and not the other goose that was tagging along. I’ve never seen another type of bird protect the offspring of another bird before. They all seemed to get along…reminds me of that saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”, maybe in the goose world that might be true, as for us humans, I strongly believe it’s the parents job, but that’s another topic for another forum. 🙂

There really wasn’t much going on at the park aside from the adorable fluffballs, so I just focused on subjects that most of the time get looked over.  You’ll notice that I have a thing for baby leaves.  It’s a theme you will find throughout my blog.  They are always so beautiful to me, colored so differently from the rest of the tree/plants, they just look so dainty and elegant.  I also got a shot of an Osprey circling way above the lake.  It’s moments like that I really wish I had a longer zoom lens, at least a 300mm, but for now, I”ll just have to settle with my 200mm. 😉

Enjoy!

Correa Wedding Slideshow

For Ashley & Ritchie. Much Love! ❤

You’ll notice I added two photos at the very beginning taken by Ricardo. I know he would be very happy that his photos were added to your love story.  He was very talented, and such a kind soul. ❤

Head Shots

I LOVE shooting head shots! Something about the up close and personal details, I just love, especially the details on the eyes that really says a lot about a person without saying anything at all.   The right lighting, angle  and with the right amount of shadows is really important.   On my last Maternity Shoot, I took some head shots  of such a beautiful mother and her equally beautiful daughter which I will share here and also a few from the past that will always be on my list of favorites. 🙂  If you would like to schedule some head shots, now’s the time to do it with this incredible weather we’ve been having or we can always shoot in my studio. 🙂

Spring Visitor

Yesterday I made a post on Instagram of our blooming Milkweed and said “Bring on the butterflies”…well I guess they heard me!! Just a little while ago I was visited by a beautiful Monarch Butterfly and was lucky to grab a few shots.

I LOVE spring! My water lily is about to bloom too as well as my Princess Di Tea Rose.  Stay tuned for those. 🙂

Enjoy. 🙂

The Fuller Family Maternity Session @Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park

What more can a photographer ask for than perfect weather, perfect lighting and beautiful scenery?  Well, for starters,  a gorgeous Mother-to-Be, her handsome husband and beautiful daughter!!!  I had an amazing and fun photo session last night at Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park.  Paige, Jeremy & Audrey were amazing photo subjects and such wonderful sports as I shuffled them back and forth between hiking trails, finding the best spots for their family photos.   Paige looked stunning in her white gown and flower crown, what a gorgeous mom! Audrey takes after her mom and is so incredibly photogenic, and of course Jeremy is very handsome and fun…it was a perfect day!

I get so excited to do these shoots..from start to finish, the entire process is so much fun.   I am sharing some of my personal favorites that I have worked on so far, and will be adding more as I finish them.

Thank you again to Paige & Jeremy for choosing me to capture your precious memories that will last a lifetime! Congratulations! I can’t wait to meet baby Fuller when she arrives! ❤

Travis on the Mound 3-30-17

I love sports photography. I’ve been shooting baseball games since my boys were in T-Ball (10 years ago) and it quickly became a passion of mine.  I’ve met some great kids through the years who played ball with my boys, and Travis is one of them. He is a fantastic pitcher, you can tell from every photo how intensely he concentrates. He is a lot of fun to photograph!!  Here are some shots of the Fighting Irish starting pitcher today, Travis Wilson.  Thank you to his parents for trusting in me to capture these memories that will last a lifetime.

Saturday at the Park

I tagged along with my husband and son on their fishing trip to El Dorado Park this evening and brought my camera with me. Not a whole lot was going on, but I did take some time photographing the resident Geese.  They can be pretty mean, but today they were in a good mood, one spent a lot of time posing for me.

My son pointed out a Grackle on the lid of a trashcan and I got a couple shots of some Western Bluebirds, other than that, it was pretty quiet, windy and cold. There weren’t many flowers blooming in section III of the park, but a few Rock Roses and Mexican Lavender (which I didn’t bother with since there weren’t any hummingbirds feeding on them).  Other than that, it was pretty low key at the park today.

I am really wanting to venture out and explore new areas. I plan on visiting Santiago Oaks Regional Park, Oak Canyon Nature Center, Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park, Irvine Regional Park to name a few. It’s been a while since I’ve visited these beautiful places. I have a maternity session coming up, that I cannot wait. I’ve been researching some beautiful locations for this shoot to compliment such a beautiful expectant mother!  I will be sharing those within the coming weeks. 🙂

That’s all for now.  🙂

A Gorgeous Day at Mission San Juan Capistrano

It’s been a couple years since I’ve walked the grounds of the Jewel of the California Mission’s, Mission San Juan Capistrano. They don’t call it the “Jewel” for nothing, it is a very beautiful Mission indeed (my favorite).  The flowers were not in full bloom, but they are definitely blooming and so beautiful. I plan to go back in May when spring is in full swing. I saw one Monarch Butterfly today, but it was camera shy, so I really want to go back for some butterfly shots. I did, however, get a shot of a very outgoing Blue Bellied Lizard flexing his muscles for me, and showing off his beautiful blueish/purple scales! I’ve never seen a lizard like that before!  🙂

Here are some of my favorite shots of today. I used both my Canon Mark III and my iPhone 6s+. I am continually impressed with the quality of my iPhone. I used the iPhone for some of the landscape & architecture shots, and my MIII for the florals. 🙂 Enjoy!
