Monday Morning Nature Walk

The June Gloom cleared early this morning, so I was up bright and early and felt like going on a nature walk with my camera.  The morning light was so nice with a few puffy clouds, which seemed to give all the animals an energy boost (as well as myself).  The squirrels were chasing each other up and down the trees, and one paid me a brief visit. The Western Bluebirds were busy feeding their young, and the Grackles were noisily following my every move.  My husband and son were fishing while I was exploring. While I caught some nice moments, they didn’t catch a single fish, not even a nibble to be had.

Here are some of my favorite shots.

Enjoy. 🙂

An Evening at El Dorado

I wandered around El Dorado Park this evening with my camera while my husband did a little Bass Fishing.  The lighting was magical and there was an abundance of Red Winged Blackbirds, Grackles and Geese.  I was so excited to pull up my photos and find I actually captured a Red Winged Blackbird in flight! Do you know how hard it is to capture these birds in flight so that they are sharp and the wing colors are visible?  Well, it’s hard and I finally did it!  I’m not even caring that it’s not super sharp, it’s good enough for me! These birds are so beautiful and graceful!

So…here’s a few pics. Enjoy. 🙂

Outing at El Dorado Park

This morning I took a break from furniture refinishing/painting and went over to El Dorado Park with my husband. I figured I could bring my camera gear and do a little bird photography (one of my favorite things to shoot…with a camera that is) 🙂 while the Mr. did a little fishing.  El Dorado Park in Long Beach, CA is a favorite place of mine to do bird photography, especially Western Bluebirds and Birds of Prey.  I’ve always been fascinated with birds, ever since I was about 9 years old when I read book after book and pretty much memorized every bird in the National Audubon Society Field Guide to Southern California Birds-Western Region.  As I grew older, I never lost interest in birds, I grew more fond of them as I aged especially with a newfound passion, photography.  I always say, my favorite photo subjects are children, flowers, birds and pretty much anything related to nature.

Anyways, today was a bit overcast with mottled grey skies and a few patches of blue. The lighting wasn’t the best, but I did take a few share-worthy photos (and actually one is my new favorite bird photo).

Here are some Western Bluebirds frolicking in the Maple Trees.  I even managed to face my fear of Yellow Jackets and get some photos of them on a flowering bush.  Enjoy! 🙂
