Monday Morning Nature Walk

The June Gloom cleared early this morning, so I was up bright and early and felt like going on a nature walk with my camera.ย  The morning light was so nice with a few puffy clouds, which seemed to give all the animals an energy boost (as well as myself).ย  The squirrels were chasing each other up and down the trees, and one paid me a brief visit. The Western Bluebirds were busy feeding their young, and the Grackles were noisily following my every move.ย  My husband and son were fishing while I was exploring. While I caught some nice moments, they didn’t catch a single fish, not even a nibble to be had.

Here are some of my favorite shots.

Enjoy. ๐Ÿ™‚

Canadian Goslings & Other Things

These photos and videos were taken earlier today at El Dorado Park. โค

Canadian Geese come to Southern Ca. every year for their winter/spring destination and obviously breeding grounds away from the harsh cold of Canada. Theseย  precious Goslings were very well protected by Mom & Dad.ย  They are so adorable how they clumsily follow their parents around, and copy everything they see Mom and Dad do! I just love how fluffy & puffy their downy feathers are.ย  I couldn’t get any closer as there was another Goose of some kind that was REALLY protective of the goslings.ย  Thisย  confused me at first because I couldn’t figure out who the mom was, but the babies stayed next to the Canadian Geese and not the other goose that was tagging along. I’ve never seen another type of bird protect the offspring of another bird before. They all seemed to get along…reminds me of that saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”, maybe in the goose world that might be true, as for us humans, I strongly believe it’s the parents job, but that’s another topic for another forum. ๐Ÿ™‚

There really wasn’t much going on at the park aside from the adorable fluffballs, so I just focused on subjects that most of the time get looked over.ย  You’ll notice that I have a thing for baby leaves.ย  It’s a theme you will find throughout my blog.ย  They are always so beautiful to me, colored so differently from the rest of the tree/plants, they just look so dainty and elegant.ย  I also got a shot of an Osprey circling way above the lake.ย  It’s moments like that I really wish I had a longer zoom lens, at least a 300mm, but for now, I”ll just have to settle with my 200mm. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Enjoy!

Spring Visitor

Yesterday I made a post on Instagram of our blooming Milkweed and said “Bring on the butterflies”…well I guess they heard me!! Just a little while ago I was visited by a beautiful Monarch Butterfly and was lucky to grab a few shots.

I LOVE spring! My water lily is about to bloom too as well as my Princess Di Tea Rose.ย  Stay tuned for those. ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy. ๐Ÿ™‚
