I LOVE shooting head shots! Something about the up close and personal details, I just love, especially the details on the eyes that really says a lot about a person without saying anything at all. The right lighting, angle and with the right amount of shadows is really important. On my last Maternity Shoot, I took some head shots of such a beautiful mother and her equally beautiful daughter which I will share here and also a few from the past that will always be on my list of favorites. 🙂 If you would like to schedule some head shots, now’s the time to do it with this incredible weather we’ve been having or we can always shoot in my studio. 🙂
I love sports photography. I’ve been shooting baseball games since my boys were in T-Ball (10 years ago) and it quickly became a passion of mine. I’ve met some great kids through the years who played ball with my boys, and Travis is one of them. He is a fantastic pitcher, you can tell from every photo how intensely he concentrates. He is a lot of fun to photograph!! Here are some shots of the Fighting Irish starting pitcher today, Travis Wilson. Thank you to his parents for trusting in me to capture these memories that will last a lifetime.
I tagged along with my husband and son on their fishing trip to El Dorado Park this evening and brought my camera with me. Not a whole lot was going on, but I did take some time photographing the resident Geese. They can be pretty mean, but today they were in a good mood, one spent a lot of time posing for me.
My son pointed out a Grackle on the lid of a trashcan and I got a couple shots of some Western Bluebirds, other than that, it was pretty quiet, windy and cold. There weren’t many flowers blooming in section III of the park, but a few Rock Roses and Mexican Lavender (which I didn’t bother with since there weren’t any hummingbirds feeding on them). Other than that, it was pretty low key at the park today.
I am really wanting to venture out and explore new areas. I plan on visiting Santiago Oaks Regional Park, Oak Canyon Nature Center, Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park, Irvine Regional Park to name a few. It’s been a while since I’ve visited these beautiful places. I have a maternity session coming up, that I cannot wait. I’ve been researching some beautiful locations for this shoot to compliment such a beautiful expectant mother! I will be sharing those within the coming weeks. 🙂
That’s all for now. 🙂
Every now and then I take a trip down memory lane by browsing through my huge archive of photos from the past 16 years. I started my interest in photography long before I was a mother, but as soon as my first child was born that was when my interest became a hobby, and eventually my business. I love to reminisce through all my photos most importantly to reflect on my boy’s childhood and to (cry) marvel in how much they have grown. There’s always a story to be told with each photo. Some photos make me laugh, others make me cry and some make me scratch my head thinking, “Why didn’t and do anything with these photos before?”. Some photos just didn’t grab my attention back when I first shot them, but tonight I came across a few that really stood out and begged for some special touches. This series is called “Renew” which I will share here and add more as I work on them. Working on these photos rekindled a passion for floral photography. I guess it’s time for new projects and new memories with my new camera.
Just a few photos I wanted to share. First, our Water Hyacinths bloomed yesterday (well one of them). I’m glad I got the camera out, because the blooms fade within 24 hours! They sure are pretty.
The second photo is of one of the photo disc sleeves I offer when ordering a photo disc. They are gorgeous keepsakes. Love the quote on this one. ❤
My cat Cristo, the Black and White Tuxedo Cat, decided to stalk me while I edit photos. He was laying directly above me on top of my desk (which is a re-purposed amoire). He was posing for me and I had my camera right there so I had to get a couple shots of him. He’s gorgeous and I love him, but he’s sure a feisty thing! I think you can tell he has a feisty streak in him..it’s in the eyes. 🙂
The other photos are of my son Jonathan saying hello to the neighborhood Tom, a new favorite photo of mine
Tomorrow I will be a secondary photographer at my friend’s, daughter’s wedding so I will be sharing the photos here next week. Stay tuned. Have a great weekend everyone!
I decided to change things up a little bit. It’s like getting a new bedspread, new drapes, new paint, a new hairdo….you catch the drift. 🙂 Please let me know what you think. I appreciate all the visits and your thoughts/suggestions. 🙂
Let me also tell you how fun Instagram is! Instagram is a fun photo sharing app for the iPhone and Android which you can add cool vintage filters to make your photos more stylish. I have been using Instagram for the past year, but recently started tagging my photos (like #crazycatlady or #editfromtheheart 🙂 ) which gets your photos more exposure and ultimately you will meet some really nice people who share the same interests & hobbies as you! Want to learn more about Instagram? Check out their helpful blog, where you will find info how to use it, and will see postings from their weekend hashtag projects. Instagram really got me back in the swing of photography. I never really put my cameras down per se, because I’m always taking pics of my kids and my cats, but I have slacked off in the creativity department for a while. When I say creative, I am talking about how I really pay attention to the way the sunlight illuminates a subject, and how I add a creative flare to my photos in photoshop. So Instagram kind of kicked me into gear. In addition Photoshop and Instagram, I use some great iPhone applications as well. Snapseed, Fotoforge, Camera+, Color Splash to name a few. Technology is amazing, especially for all the shutterbugs out there! So, get out there with your iPhones & Adnroids and get to snapping! It’s fun, cheap, and you are creating memories that LAST! 🙂
