A Gorgeous Day at Mission San Juan Capistrano

It’s been a couple years since I’ve walked the grounds of the Jewel of the California Mission’s, Mission San Juan Capistrano. They don’t call it the “Jewel” for nothing, it is a very beautiful Mission indeed (my favorite).  The flowers were not in full bloom, but they are definitely blooming and so beautiful. I plan to go back in May when spring is in full swing. I saw one Monarch Butterfly today, but it was camera shy, so I really want to go back for some butterfly shots. I did, however, get a shot of a very outgoing Blue Bellied Lizard flexing his muscles for me, and showing off his beautiful blueish/purple scales! I’ve never seen a lizard like that before!  🙂

Here are some of my favorite shots of today. I used both my Canon Mark III and my iPhone 6s+. I am continually impressed with the quality of my iPhone. I used the iPhone for some of the landscape & architecture shots, and my MIII for the florals. 🙂 Enjoy!

iPhone Photography

Everyone that knows me, knows my love of photography, but I will let you all in on a little secret…I don’t like carrying my big guns with me wherever I go.  It can be a real pain to lug around two camera bags with all my gear, not to mention, it could be a very costly mistake (theft, accidental drops etc), so what is the next best solution?  Yeah, a P&S (point and shoot) camera can fit in my purse but it’s still not very convenient for me.  So, the next best solution is to invest in a great smartphone with nice camera as it’s always on hand wherever I go. You can’t go wrong with an iPhone, that’s for sure.  I also own a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which is decent too, but I’m partial to Apple, I feel the photo quality in iPhone’s are hard to beat especially the exposure, low noise and sharpness.

My husband and I were in Westlake Village for our Nephew’s engagement party this past weekend.   We stayed at an absolutely stunning hotel,  The Four Season’s Westlake Village.  This is probably one of the nicest, if not THE nicest hotel’s I’ve ever stayed at.  Everywhere you look there is a beautiful photo subject waiting for you, from murals on the ceiling, gorgeous chandeliers, to their stunning pools and Japanese Gardens.  I didn’t have my big guns with me, but did have my iPhone 6s+ charged and ready for rapid fire.  Here are a few of my favorite shots. I am sure I missed many photo opportunities, but I’m happy with the ones I was able to capture.  Enjoy!
